Most dogs do best on a 4 week schedule to keep them clean, decrease shedding, prevent smaller knots and tangles from becoming a problem and preventing their nails from getting uncomfortably long.
If your dog has a long or high maintenance coat that you struggle keeping up with in between monthly appointments or you just like to keep your dogs extra clean, an every other week schedule alternating baths and haircuts would likely work best for them.
We strongly believe in humanity over vanity and as such don’t offer heavy or extensive dematting services. I typically limit brushing out time to no more than 20 minutes for light tangling/matting.
Heavy/extensive dematting can be stressful, uncomfortable and painful for your pet. Additionally, it can cause irritation to the skin and do a lot of damage to their coat which will lead to those areas matting more readily.
Remember: It’s just hair, it’ll grow back! Your pet’s health and well being are far more important than a little extra fluff. Matting is completely preventable and we’re always happy to help you find the correct grooming schedule for your pet and show you how to maintain you pet's coat at home in between appointments so they always look their best.
If your dog is over 4 months old you should have proof of your dog’s current Rabies vaccine.
Puppies should be up to date on age appropriate vaccines but it's not necessary for them to wait until they're fully vaccinated as the areas they'll be on are fully sanitized.
We have high quality professional tools and products ready to use on your pet, but we’re also happy to use your own shampoo/conditioner/ear cleaning solution if that’s your preference.
If your pet has a restricted diet due to allergies or other health problems, then we would suggest providing their own favorite treats to have during the appointment.
For the safety of your pet we don’t work with aggressive or extremely anxious pets as this puts them at a much higher risk of accidents during the appointment and puts our groomer at a higher risk for getting bitten.
We would recommend booking an appointment at a veterinary hospital that offers grooming services so that the groomer will have extra help available for handling if needed, veterinary staff to help monitor your pet if they need to be sedated, or something comes up that needs immediate medical attention.
If biting or extreme anxiety during grooming are new behaviors for your pet, we would suggest to have your vet do a thorough exam on them as sometimes things such as dental disease, joint pain or other undiagnosed medical conditions can trigger these behaviors and managing the conditions can make grooming easier on them again.
We’re usually booked about 4-6 weeks out and don’t have same day/same week appointments available. Please plan to book ahead of time so your pet has a reserved appointment when they need it.
We’re happy to book recurring appointments for your pets so never have to wait for spots to become available.
